New Zealand's executive on Sunday announced it turned into investing NZ$36m ($25m) in a new analysis platform to boost the nation's preparedness for future pandemics.
Dr Ayesha Verrall, the associate minister of analysis, science and innovation, stated a lack of a dedicated infectious diseases research fund had long been a niche in New Zealand's science capabilities.
"When the pandemic hit, scientists both volunteered time to aid the Covid-19 response or got advert hoc delivers for small items of research," Verrall referred to.
