California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday that the state would require COVID-19 vaccines for all college children a while 12-17 once the FDA provides full approval, fitting the primary state within the nation to stream ahead on mandating vaccines for college infants.

California has thus far vaccinated 63.5% of residents aged 12-17 with at least one dose, in comparison with 84% of all eligible residents.

"For 12 to 17, we're no longer the place we should be. And so we hope this encourages individuals to get vaccinated," Newsom talked about.
